Flaubert's Madame Bovary was a required reading in my high school English class. Not sure why anymore.

Where did you find Flaubert was a vegetarian? Many vegan & vegetarian sites quote him, but none brings any document to prove it. Is it only a rumor? I only found this study (in french) about the animality in Flaubert's work: flaubert.univ-rouen.fr/revue/article.php?id=44
