Both of these restaurants had delicious food. El Alcacil provides a menu fixe which means you get 4 set dishes for a set price-not cheap. The soups were excellent and the vegetable dishes were varied with subtle spices. We ate twice at El Grillo Azul which had more flexibility-you could order fewer dishes and save money or go to town. Again the soup was great, the lasagna and the salads, There were many interesting things we didn't get to try. It is also a tablecloth fancy place; many young people in Salamanca who are not vegetarians come there for something different. You may need reservations on the weekends.
