note
Many listings are not where they appear to be because you need to know their zip code or there can be 2 to 10 different possibilities for the same address. Also, do not go to Budapest on May 15th or any where around it, its national eviction day and the streets are filled with people's smashed possessions that are tossed out by land lords. Every street has dozens of apartments full of disease ridden garbage tossed in the street you can't even walk and people are picking through it like scavengers its really bad...

Can thoroughly recommend Eden Vegetarian restaurant in Buda, 9 Dobrentei Ucta. Excellent, good value selection of home-cooked meals. Many seemed to be vegan too, although couldn't tell for sure. Also freshly squeezed (on the premises) fruit juices. No alcohol served but is a bar/restaurant nearby. Lovely premises in an old building inside & a quiet courtyard terrace outside. Not a 'fast food' place, so somewhere to go when you're not in a hurry.

Also Govinda (blessed by the Dalai Lama no less!) serves authentic Indian food. The 'bit of everything' choice was really cheap & satisfies even the heartiest appetite. Everything obviously homemade but laid out buffet style ready to eat. Non-alcoholic soft drinks also homemade. Would be a good choice for lunch too, as Indian snacks (samosas etc etc) available.

This was the greatest restaurant I've ever eaten in! Everyone should go here--it's worth going to Budapest for this restaurant alone. The food is amazing, healthy, and bounteous. You won't be disappointed--and the drinks--ginger juice or rose lemonade in particular--are fabulous as well. Please support this incredible restaurant.
