At Salford Quays there is a rather limited vegetarian and vegan choice. We found that in the Lowry Outlet Mall there is a veg-friendly place called "Tandoori delights" which offers great value for money vegetarian curry; 3 options available including vegetable options or chick pea options. It is £5 for a curry with a drink, rice, naan, salad and sauce (mango chutney or chilli) and spicy onions.

There is also a convenience store in the basement of the centre which cooks freshly made pizza and curry (although we did not sample this so can't vouch for the veg friendliness of it)

The Imperial War Museum cafe has vegetarian options, and took off the vegetarian sign from one salad when I pointed out that parmesan cheese is not vegetarian. The Lowry had tofu noodles on its menu when we visited.

Manchester city center is very frustrating as the few veggie places all close early or are located miles from town. Here's a list of a few veggie friendly places that are open for dinner in the city centre:

Little Yang Sing
17 George Street Manchester M1 4HE
0161 228 7722 in Chinatown
Extensive choices for vegetarians using fresh veg, tofu, mock meats (seitan). Servers are happy to alter orders.

75 High Street Manchester M4 1FS
0161 834 9411 near the Arndale in the trendy part of town
Very tasty substantial pizzas made with quality ingredients in a trendy setting. Gluten free and dairy free cheese alternatives are available. Vegan cheese at a pizza place? Finally!

31 Sackville Street City Centre, Manchester M1 3LZ - 0161 228 7369 by the canal district and bus station
Excellent Ethiopian restaurant hidden away above a kebab shop. Donít be put off, climb the stairs and enjoy one of the best bargain meals in town. Thereís only one option for veggies but itís a huge platter of different traditional dishes served on injera bread with more bread on the side. I asked about butter/dairy and the server said no and it didnít taste like it so its vegan. I had the platter and two beers and the bill was £9. It was so big I couldnít finish it.

Arndale centre and Printworks
Not really a good ambience for veggies but the veggie burger can be ordered without mayo to make it vegan.

I am advised that the Lowry Hotel in Manchester have Duck Wrap listed on the menu as being suitable for vegetarians

Fruits and Passion have opened up a shop in the Arndale Centre next to Lush. They do not test on animals and the only items which are not suitable for Vegans (but are suitable for Vegetarians) are the lipglosses (which contain beeswas) everything else is suitable for Vegans. Their products contain a whole range of shower gels, hand creams, shampoos, conditioners, perfumes etc.

They also do household products, dog shampoos and a little bit of the luxury type foods & oils.
