How To Master The Art Of Raw Vegan Sushi

Sushi masters spend a lifetime mastering this culinary art. Become a raw vegan sushi ninja with these hacks that will have you making your own tasty, healthy rolls at home in no time. Raw vegan sushi does not use rice. Instead, you can use cauliflower rice or spicy avocado spread.

Cauliflower Hemp Rice
1 large cauliflower, leaves removed
2 tablespoon fresh cilantro, minced
2 cloves of garlic
2 cups hulled hemp seeds
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
1 pinch sea salt

Assembling the Sushi
A professional blender will allow for you to create creamy dipping sauces and delicious fillings. A blender that has power and features like this Omega will perfectly pulverize your cauliflower for the rice. Start by adding cauliflower with olive oil until blended. You can use a spatula to mix the unprocessed cauliflower in between blending for about 30 seconds, alternating until smoothly blended. Add in remaining ingredients and do a last blend to mix.

Start off with a dry surface, such as a bamboo cutting board, and place your nori down. Spread your filling on the nori leaving a 1 inch flap with no filling on the end.

Add in your fillings. Some great things to add in are avocado, cucumber, grated yellow squash, sprouts, micro greens, cilantro, green onions, carrots, bell pepper, jalapeño or anything else that you might like, such as green apples.

Roll and dampen inside end of roll (the 1 inch part that does not have the filling on it). Dampen the outside of the roll with fingers in any areas where the nori is not adhereing to the outside of the roll.

Cutting the rolls is the tricky part. You can always enjoy the whole thing, like a hand roll. If you want artful rolls, a ceramic knife, such as Kyocera, will cut right through the veggies and tough nori without having to use excess pressure, which will could cause your sushi roll to lose shape or pull apart. The trick is to clean the knife in between each cut by dipping it in a bowl of clean water.
