Ho Chi Minh is a big city, its not easy to locate veg stall / restaurant as I'am just back from HCM / Hue / Hoi An.
There is a new vietnamese vegetarian food (open 7 mths) at district 1, address is 207 Bui Vien, Tel:08-2912564,Open fm 6.30am-2200hrs, its just less than a minute walk from Duc Vuong Hotel. The food is cheap & nice & the environment is good.
They have another branch at District 7,SD 29-Sky garden-Phy My Hung-Tel:08-4102799. Their web site is www.shopping-in-peace.com. Have inform them to advertise on the internet so that it will be easy for those travellers who are vegetarian. 1 of the staff able to speak english.
In Hoi An - There is another Veg stall, its located about 5 mins walk from Ah Phu Hotel, The stall name: Tam Quang Minh, Address: Ly Thuong Kiet-Hoi An-Quang Nam, Tel: 0510.914657, open fm 6am-7pm,do not speak english, sell different types of vietnamese noodles & cooked vegetable / tofu etc. Food is cheap. They sell veg dried food also. Have to use sign language & point the food you like to have or eat what they serve. Have inform them that their Veg food sign was not prominent no doubt its facing the main road. It will be better to go before 6pm as it will be dark after which can't locate the stall.
In Hoi-An- can't locate Kuu food Stall which is said to be next to the japanese bridge. Not sure whether still exist or have miss out.
Quan Chay @ 71/20 Phan Chu Trinh in Hoi-An - managed to find the veg cafe & took a photo of the cafe, the food was very cheap & good but they do not speak english & eat what they serve.
In Hue- managed to find the stall as lsited in happy cow web site- its behind Sports hotel @ Chu Van An st. the food was good & cheap.Closed on Sunday.
It will be good if the date of the updated listing of veg stall / restaurant be included for easy reference. Thanks

"mi ching" (phonetic spelling) is the Hanoi word for MSG. In Saigon, you should use "bot ngot" (pronounced more like boh ngo - swallo the t.) I'm a Vietnamese vegetarian from the south.

You can visit all the monuments and sites for in a week, but it's a big city with lots of cars, traffic, noise. If possible, go visit the nearby towns and sites (see your guidebooks)! PS. Internet cafe rates are cheap!

Hi, the following two restaurants allow the help to cook meat for their own meals in the kitchen. This is not uncommon in Vietnamese restaurants so you have to ask. Both also use MSG.
