You can make a good meal from mezes especially at a good restaurant with a lot of mezzes. Nevizade Sokak is one place, central, with a lot of fish restaurants that have a big range of mezes to choose from.
Fresh salad such as çoban made with cucumber, tomato, sweet chilli peppers and parsley and salad ingredients are common everywhere.
Hazır yemek restaurants with ready prepared dishes often in the window will often have around five dishes with no meat in them however they may be cooked with meat stock.
Most restaurants serve some meat dishes. Also yoghurt features in a lot of dishes. Note it is not common to find falafel in kebab shops either.
Apart from purely vegetarian restaurants, around areas where tourists frequent, many restaurants have a vegetarian section on their menus. Deep and Şiirci on Kurabiye Sokak and Nature and Peace on Büyük Parmakkapı Sokak are just three of them.
