Luodong is a small city 15 minutes south of Yilan. Both the beach and the mountains are a short drive away. It has a big and wonderful park, and a lively night market which gets very crowded on weekends. The city is compact and nearly everything is within walking distance from the train station. (the park is about a 20 minute walk)
