This small restaurant with 10 seats is run by a couple, and the food is 100% vegan. The menu is very simple, just a "teishoku," like a "menu of the day". The number of food portions is limited, so reservation is suggested. On weekends, it's first come-first-served basis. Large drink menu is large, and vegan sweets are available. The "teishoku" costs approx. 1280 yen on weekdays, and 1380 weekends (drinks extra). Open Sat-Wed 11:30-17:00, closed Thur-Fri & sometimes other days.

Serves meat, veg options available. All the menus are pre-fixed at this tatami-floor Buddhist cuisine restaurant. They have two menus which are vegan and they do have an English language menu. Options are the Shojinryori course (a total of 12 small dishes) which costs 3990yen or the Shojinhonzen course (a total of 16 small dishes) which costs 5775yen. Located in the Meiji-kan very close to the Shrines with a bus stop right in front of it; buses won't go later than 5pm. Open Mon-Wed, Fri-Sun 11:30am-7pm, closed Thur.

Serves meat, veg options available. This cozy 15 seat restaurant has a small selection of noodle dishes, 6 of which are vegan. The owners speak limited English, but there is an English menu. The noodle and veggie dishes are satisfying, and you might get a piece of fruit for dessert at no cost and without asking. The walls and ceiling are covered with business cards and mementos from people from around the world. Write a message on your train ticket stub, a dollar bill, etc., and the proprietor will give you a thumb tack to hang it up. Directions: walk up the main street from train station for 15 minutes, keep eye out for the restaurant on the left side of the street, there's a picture of a samurai on the building's front. Cash only. Open Mon-Sun 11:30am-7 pm.
