Vegetarian Restaurants: (11 Listings) Ramana's Garden  Village Tapovan, Laxman Jhula village (249-192)  ++91-135-2435558 Lacto, Ovo, Vegan-friendly, Organic, Salad-bar, International  A wonderful beautiful place to eat and enjoy the day at the Garden that is also a home and school for children(orphans). Restaurant is operated by volunteers and all proceeds go to maintaining the organization. Sometimes the children will help out in the restaurant. Breakfast features fruits, hot & cold cereal, breads, and drinks. Lunch set menu consists of organically grown salad greens, freshly baked breads, soup, daal, rice or quinoa, and a cookie; or you can order a la carte. Sunday brunch features whole grain french toast and waffles. Open Mon-Sun 10am-3pm, and a special Saturday dinner (usually pizza) from 6:30pm. The only place in Laxmanjhula with good coffee and real cappucino and a must-try ginger honey lemon drink. Cash only. Expensive for local standards but moderate for foreigners. Directions: Located away from the main part of town, away from the bridge. From the bridge above Devraj restaurant, walk north up the hill and into alleys that will lead you there. Chotiwala Restaurants Swargashram Dist: Pauri Garhwal, Ram Jhula village (249-192) 91-0135-2430070 Fast-food, Lacto, Indian, International Two large restaurants side-by-side on a main strip of the shopping area catering to pilgrams and foreigners. Moderate prices for local standards but affordable for foreigners - dosas, samosas, rice, and more. There is are 2 fat men both painted purple that sits at the door to each of the restaurant to attract passer-bys. Facing the restaurants, the one on the left is the older and the one on the right is newer. Both have inside and top floor patio seating. Open til late. Cash only. English menu. Made-to-order foods take time. Moderate to expensive prices by local standard but affordable for foreigners. Food is made to order and can be customize upon request. Vegans can ask for dishes without the cheese/paneer (usually a little cheaper). Ask to leave out MSG (say "no Aginomoto"). Friendly service. Jhula Italian Restaurant Laxman Jhula village (at next to jeep taxi stand/main strip on other side of bridge/east when facing the Himalaya) 0135433211/983762732 Lacto, Vegan-friendly, Indian, Italian, International Restaurant is next to the internet cafe. Casual setting with TV but no decor. Menu features Italian such as pizza, pasta, lasagna, as well as Indian food. Pizza is made upon order so may take up to 40 minutes. Vegans can request no cheese. Kalptaru - The Ayurveda Place Laxman Jhula village (249-192) please send Lacto, Vegan-friendly, Indian No menu. Lunch set meals usually consists of a tea, "kitchuri" a thick soup of rice, beans, and veggies. Dinner set meals consists of a tea, rice, daal or potatoes, salad, chai (has milk) and sometimes chapati bread & chai tea. Vegans ask to have without ghee (butter). Moderate-expensive by local standard but affordable for foreigners. Price includes all you can eat refills. Cash only. For directions, just ask one of the local foreigners for "the Ayurvedic place." Midway Bar and Restaurant On a main vehicle road/ taxi driver will know please send Lacto, Not 100% Vegetarian Not 100% Vegetarian. Part of large upscale dining chain where on dines in garden setting. Menu has English and features a section for vegetables. The garlic naan is very delicious - try it.
