Subject: 'Vegetarian in Chad'

Chad is a vegetarian's nightmare. There is very little in the way of vegetarian food in this Saharan city. Partially thanks to the recently arrived oil-industry expatriates, there are a few restaurants in N'djamena, which have at least a vegetarian option. There is an Indian restaurant which has basically two vegetarian dishes (the first Indian restaurant I've been to that is 95% meat!). There is also a Lebanese restaurant with some rather tasty vegetarian dishes. One or two other restaurants, with very limited vegetarian options (some "salad", french fries, or boiled vegetables). No addresses, but there is only 1-2 main streets and you can ask anyone where the restaurants are. Thanks also to the oil industry, what is available is shockingly expensive. Outside N'djamena, I shudder to think as to what might be available.
Best to take some dry food along with you if you plan on visiting Chad.
